Last year I had the good fortune to work with Doug on a couple of tattoos. He's great to work with, as he always knows exactly what he wants but is open to suggestion. This year we're working on finishing his Burning Man forearm-- this latest bit performed on Larry Harvey's birthday, January 11th. He says, "This is my third tattoo with Victoria - I am so grateful that I found her through the Burning Man community. My right arm is my visual reminder about how important the Burn is to me. Victoria guided my design for the first part of my arm six months ago when we combined the Gifting symbol with a quote that's very important to me - the second line of "We are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spirits living a human experience." And for this addition, we added the Man, but changed his usual head for the symbol for Immediacy. The Burn .... the Playa .... Black Rock City is my home. And once a year when I return there I completely live life. And this permanent artwork on my arm is my daily reminder that that is how I want to live my life.
