Every once in awhile, a client brings in a piece of artwork commissioned from another artist--always someone who is not a tattoo artist--- that they want me to use for their tattoo project. I usually say that I'm happy to use the art as a base, but in order to make it into a tattoo, I will have to alter it--- is the client OK with that?
Josh is one who was happy to have me make suggestions and alterations, which makes my job easier. He had an old tattoo on his left thigh near his knee cap, that he wanted covered with a gray work piece (black ink only) that he provided. That's a hard thing to do, but he was such an articulate communicator and delight to work with that everything worked out great.
Here are some photos of the original artwork, my drawing, the before, outline and very fresh gray work stages.
